Shravan Somwar
Shravan (purnimant) · every Somavara
The Mondays of Shravan, kept as a fast for Shiva. Four or five fall in the month, and each is counted and named in order.
Why this date
A weekday rule rather than a tithi one: every Monday inside the month of Shravan, Shiva's own weekday in his own month. Because it is a weekday series the count varies — some years hold four Somwars and some five, and the month is taken purnimant here (ending at the full moon), which is the northern convention and starts about a fortnight earlier than the Maharashtrian one.
