Ashwin Shukla Purnima, the full moon of Ashwin — but settled by the evening rather than at sunrise, because the observance is a night one: the first evening the full moon is present in pradosha, the hour and a half after sunset, and when it reaches neither evening's pradosha, the night it covers midnight — Lakshmi's round. In 2024 that distinction moved it a whole day, to 16 October, while the tithi at the following sunrise still read as the full moon.
