वट सावित्री व्रत का उत्तर भारतीय रूप — पूर्णिमा के बजाय ज्येष्ठ अमावस्या को रखा जाता है।

The same observance splits across regions onto two different tithis a fortnight apart: northern and eastern India keep it on Jyeshtha Amavasya, while Maharashtra and the south keep Vat Purnima on Jyeshtha Purnima. The month is named purnimant here, so the day southern calendars call Vaishakha Amavasya is the same day northern ones call Jyeshtha Amavasya — reading it in the wrong system puts the fast a full month out. The day is the one on which the amavasya covers midday, the first when it covers both — in 2025 that is 26 May, where a sunrise reading would say the 27th.
