Muhurta Chintamani bars marriage while Guru is set, and with it the griha pravesh, upanayana and the other samskaras, so wedding and housewarming lists fall silent until Jupiter rises again in the dawn sky. The dates are astronomical, from the planet's distance from the Sun, and walk about a month later each year as Jupiter moves on through the zodiac.
