Shukra asta is the spell when Venus sets: within ten degrees of the Sun, or eight while it moves retrograde, too close to it to be seen. It comes twice in Venus's nineteen-month round — for about ten days when Venus passes between the Earth and the Sun, and for nearly three months when it passes behind the Sun. Marriage waits for Shukra to rise again, as Muhurta Chintamani rules, and so do the griha pravesh and the other undertakings of the same list. The long spell is why some years have so few wedding dates.

All times are IST, computed for Ujjain. A tithi or nakshatra turns at the same instant everywhere, so your timezone changes only the clock it reads — but a window bounded by the weekday also follows your own sunrise. The app computes both for your city.
