Amavasya is the new moon, the last tithi of the dark fortnight. It is named for the purnimant month it ends — the same day the amavasyant reckoning used by this engine still calls the month before.

Dates and end times are IST, computed for Ujjain. The tithi ends at the same instant everywhere and only the clock reading changes with your timezone — though near midnight that can move the date itself. The app computes these for your city.
