Mahanavami

Also written Navami, Navratri, महानवमी.

Navarathri is the Hindu festival of worship and dance. In Sanskrit the term literally means nine nights. During this festival the forms of Shakti are worshiped.

Ashwin Shukla Navami, the ninth and last of the nine nights. It closes Navratri, which is why the length of the festival in civil days is read from this date rather than counted forward from Ghatasthapana.
